Night shift nurses at Baylor Scott & White in Lakeway are the latest group of first responders to be recognized by the Lake Travis Rotary Club for their continued work through the coronavirus pandemic.
The Rotary Club launched a local community project in March to support local businesses and honor first responders throughout the pandemic. As part of the program, the club purchases meals from locally owned restaurants then distributes the meals to the first responders in the community, former president Andrew Rebber said.
“As all this started to play out in March. Businesses had to shut down,” he said. “So we thought about what we can do as an active club in the community to help first responders, who have been putting their life on their line and risked their health to keep us all safe, and help local businesses. So we thought let’s honor them and take them some lunches.”
